The rest, as they say, is history……but, here is a little history about us.

About Nick

I had a thriving wedding & event business (JAVA Tipis Ltd) which ground to a halt in March 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. It was at this time that I decided to diversify and use my love for making things out of wood to create a brand new business.

My father was a design engineer who worked for some great companies such as Frazer Nash and completed jobs for airline companies and Rolls Royce along the way. Over the years I worked alongside my Dad and picked up invaluable skills from him.

In my married life I continued to complete various projects in and around the house which included a large garage build amongst other projects. Since JAVA Tipis Ltd was established I have been creating rustic tables, benches, bars, backdrops and various pieces of furniture for the tipi company.

I am very meticulous and methodical by nature and decided that, whilst my wedding business was grounded, now was the perfect time to diversify and use my skills.

About Phil

My love and interest in woodwork goes back many years.

I recall spending hours with my Grandad visiting scrapyards and car boot sales, looking for bargains and thinking of creative ways to put the latest “bargain” to use at home or in the garage.

I have always liked to stay busy in my down time with renovation and woodwork projects, including restoring and building the interior of my 1972 VW campervan.

I feel most at home being creative and productive in the Pear Tree workshop with Nick.

My family and I moved back to Herefordshire, from Devon, after 10 years away. After an extensive career as a social worker I decided it was time for a change, so when Nick invited me to become his business partner I jumped at the opportunity.

And so Pear Tree Woodwork was born....
